Ingredients

- 1/2 cup butter, unsalted softened
- 3/4 cup pure maple syrup
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 3/4 cup whole wheat flour
- 3/4 cup oat flour Blend up regular rolled oats until it is a flour-like consistency
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 2 tsp ground ginger
- 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1 tsp ground cloves
- 1/2 tsp salt
Frosting
- 4 ounces low fat cream cheese softened
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 1.5 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
- 1 tbsp hemp hearts

Instructions
For the loaf
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9x5 loaf pan and set aside.
- In a medium mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to blend the softened butter and maple syrup until it is combined. Add the egg and vanilla and mix. Blend in the applesauce.
- Slowly add the flour, baking soda, and spices (ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg.) When everything is mixed, pour the batter into your loaf pan.
- Bake for about 55 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow the loaf to cool completely before frosting.
Frosting
- In a bowl add the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar and vanilla.
- Mix on low speed until everything is incorporated and fluffy.
- Spread a layer of the frosting on the cooled gingerbread loaf. Sprinkle on top with chopped walnuts and hemp hearts. Slice and enjoy!
